What this calculator does

Calculates Normalised Power Calculator using the formula verified against the cited source.

What your result means

An estimate from the inputs you enter, within the scope stated below — not advice.

Formula

NP = average power × VI (when VI = NP ÷ average power is already known); intensity factor IF = NP ÷ FTP

The step-by-step working for your own numbers appears with the result above and in the PDF report.

Frequently asked questions

Symbols and assumptions

Inputs
The values entered in the fields above
  • • If variability index VI has already been computed as NP/average power, algebra gives NP=average power×VI; IF=NP/FTP. This reconstructs an existing NP and cannot independently calculate it from average power alone.

  • • True NP requires the recorded power time series, beginning with a 30-second rolling mean and nonlinear averaging. Rename this as reconstruction from a supplied VI, or add the actual time series and exact algorithm. FTP is not an input needed to compute NP itself.

Important limitation

This is an educational estimate based only on the values and formula shown. Verify current rates, rules, units, and professional standards before relying on the result. It is not personalized financial or investment advice.
