What is NISM, and why does it matter?
NISM stands for the National Institute of Securities Markets. It was set up by SEBI in 2006 as a public trust to build skills and knowledge across India's securities markets.
Among other work, NISM runs certification examinations for specific market functions: mutual fund distribution, research, derivatives, investment advice, operations and more.
Role-linked requirement
For certain roles, SEBI regulations require a specific NISM certification, for example mutual fund distributors, research analysts and investment advisers.
Professional learning

How to register on the official NISM website
VIA Capital does not take exam registrations. Enrolment, fees and certificates are handled only by NISM. Follow these steps on their website.

Register on the official NISM certification portal with your name exactly as on your ID, plus email and mobile.

Choose the examination
Select the series you want (for example, Series V-A) and read the current test objectives and rules.

Pick a test centre and date
Choose an available test centre or mode, date and time slot.

Pay the examination fee
Pay the fee shown on the NISM portal. Fees can change, so rely only on the amount NISM shows.

Keep your confirmation
Save the enrolment confirmation and carry a valid photo ID on exam day.

What is NISM?+
The National Institute of Securities Markets is a public trust established by SEBI in 2006. It builds capacity in India's securities markets and runs certification examinations for different market functions.
Is every NISM certification mandatory?+
No. Some certifications are linked to regulatory requirements for specified roles, such as mutual fund distribution or investment advice. Others are useful for learning or career development. Always check current NISM and SEBI rules for your role.
Which NISM certification should a beginner start with?+
Many beginners start with Series XII (Securities Markets Foundation) to learn the basics. If you plan to distribute mutual funds, Series V-A is the usual starting point.
Is VIA Capital the official NISM platform?+
No. VIA Capital is an independent learning and preparation platform. Registration, examinations and official certificates are handled only by NISM at nism.ac.in.
What does the ₹199 payment include?+
